Garden Writers Today is a website set up by Cool Springs Press to serve a hub of learning and conversation in the words of new editor Hazel Jennings. Ive never met Hazel and Im sure shes well qualified (shes also the what 3rd, 4th editor there in the last year? Its been a bit tough to keep track of them all)
The delicious irony part here is the pitch to write for them is a freebie model. Authors dont get paid to write its the old help others- get exposure model of publishing.
This happens with regularity in my world. Requests arrive, Please write for free youll get exposure on my brand new site thats sure to be seen by millions.
And when a site set up to help writers does it, I can only shake my head at the irony. Do the work for free help us help you.
Herewith my best advice to writers (in lieu of writing it for that site)
Get paid.
(freely given, no payment expected and now if those millions of people about to read this will please buy all my books, Id be truly appreciative)
