When a family, or individual, outgrows their living space as far as possessions go, but cannot afford to move to a larger house, they have a number of options. They can resign themselves to giving away, or selling, potentially valuable items (whether financial, or sentimental value). They can also look for a friend with space to house some of their items – although that comes with a host of complications. The best option – particularly from an ease-of-use standpoint 0 is to buy storage units to house their unneeded items until they become necessary once more. In this way they get to remove cluttered items from living space while maintaining complete control over them and the ability to get them back – if, and when, necessary. Theses storage units are priced much more affordably now that, say, ten years ago and are a much cheap alternative, in the long run, that paying some independent firm to house unused items. Also, outsourcing storage comes with its own risks. Items can be stolen from these offsite locations, or perhaps, destroyed in the event of a fire, among other unfortunate accidents common with disconnected storage facilities. Risks as far as privacy violations can loom on the horizon when personal possessions are entrusted to the care of complete strangers making it worth considering a self-managed alternative. When a homeowner makes the decision to buy storage units to house his possessions, rather than take the risks detailed above, he gets peace of mind, and also a valuable asset that can appreciate in value as more people realize the advantages of owning one of these units – causing the price to elevate. He may even be able to make money storing items for less savvy neighbors, etc. – making money spent on storage units a very worthwhile investment – as well as an invaluable convenience.
