Scheduled for a market launch in 2012, the Renault ZOE was recently revealed. The compact four-door car that is completely battery powered. While the design of the car is quite streamlined and light, the real appeal is its energy features such as the ability to fully swap its battery in only three minutes. Other unusual details include humidity adjustment, a toxicity sensor, light therapy and a scent diffuser. Performance wise the ZOE is quite powerful with an 80-horsepower electric engine, 84 mph top speed and driving range of 99 miles on a single charge. The zero-emission vehicle which reconciles motoring with the environmental aspirations of customers looking for a vehicle with the best possible ecological footprint.
The Renault Zoe Zero Emissions Concept will have a replaceable battery that can be changed out in just three minutes. The all-electric vehicle, co-designed in part by L’Oreal Luxury Products. The car is expected to hit the road in 2012.
Technological innovations now make it possible to mass market an electric vehicle at reasonable cost. In addition, changes in vehicle use make electric cars ideal for the majority of trips, with 87% of Europeans currently driving less than 60 km a day.
Renault will bring its customers a complete range of electric vehicles by as early as 2011:
* Especially designed for professionals Kangoo Express Z.E. will be available for the 1st semester of 2011. Pre-tax prices in Europe will start from €20,000 (before available tax incentives). Pre-tax prices in France will start from €15,000 with the €5,000 eco-subsidy deducted. Monthly subscriptions covering battery rental will be available from €72. * The family sedan Fluence Z.E. will be launched first in Israel (1st semester 2011) and then in other countries. Prices in Europe will start at a price of approximately €26,000 (depending on the local VAT rate). Prices in France will start from €21,300 with the €5,000 tax incentive deducted. Customers will also subscribe to a monthly lease starting from €79 (including VAT) to cover the battery. * In the beginning of the 2nd-half of 2011, a new type of urban vehicle will be launched. Twizy will be available in two versions (5kW or 15kW motor).
* By mid 2012, a zero-emission in use city car (close to ZOE Preview) will be launched. Measuring less than four meters long and with five seats it will be ideal for commuting. * Beyond 2012, Renault will continue to extend its electric car range to cover all segments.
