Cabana heaven and pool paradise

Posted on July 24 2011 by Holly Steinfeld

Hows this for a charming cabana? After recently spending a wonderful afternoon napping and reading in one, I had to make it my room of the week.

I recently took a week off for an annual girls trip with my daughter and friends, and while I love any kind of R&R, especially with beaches and blue water, I most love some down time that involves a little design eye-candy. We followed the highway path that many an Arkansan takes down to the Florida panhandle, and stayed in Rosemary Beach on the scenic stretch of highway known as 30A. And while visiting a friend in Alys Beach, we had a chance to enjoy a beautiful day at the Caliza pool.

The communities of Alys and Rosemary Beach were designed by the New Urbanist architecture firm Duany Plater-Zyberkthe same folks working on The Village at Hendrix, right here in our state. And the beautifully tranquil Caliza pool is a community within itselfa series of pools, a restaurant and lounge, relaxation placesand those glorious cabanas.

If youre interested in soaking in the sites at Alys Beach, peruse the weekend getaways and workshops at Studio B at the Beach, a great way to explore your creativity surrounded by good design. And if youd like to see a few more sites in the area, hop on over to the New England Home blog, where Im guest blogging.
