Many of us are living in smaller houses and flats due to an increase in prices and sacrificing on space in order to live in a preferred place. Smaller houses can mean smaller rooms and when it comes to storage and space, you must choose wisely if you wish to fill this space in an ergonomic and creative way!
Bunk beds are a great option for kids, although probably not the best option for adults – unless they’re a big kid themselves! They do, however, allow for two people to sleep in the space of one bed. They also offer a variety of storage options, especially when it comes to cabin bunk style beds. Such a style allows for drawers, a small wardrobe, a desk and even a few shelves to sit under the space of a higher bed. Using height instead of width to make use of space is why the bunk bed works so well in a small room.
Other pieces that may work in a smaller room are single beds: however, not everyone wants a single bed. In this case it is probably better to invest in small double beds or a double bed with under bed storage such as a drawer, or alternatively space to put unused items or clothes, shoes and accessories such as belts and hats. This will in turn allow for more space around the surrounding area of the bed.
Under bed storage will also allow for the room to go without the likes of a set of bulky drawers as items can instead be stored, tucked away under the bed. Bed styles that include a pull out bed, or alternatively day beds, are both relatively compact in size and the first option allows for the provision of a guest bed.
